Bridging global Cultures

India is a land of contrast, where the images one sees are as diverse as the country itself. Mark Twain wrote in his book, Following the Equator, “The land of dreams and romance, of splendor and rags, of palaces and hovels, the country of a hundred nations and a hundred tongues, of a thousand religions and two million Gods, cradle of the human race, birthplace of human speech, mother of history, grandmother of legend, great-grandmother of tradition.” This is a very apt description of India. In a land of such diversity and contradictions, the need for helping hands with innovative minds and knowledge to bring development and education to the poorest and most needy becomes paramount

We are a dedicated group of professionals with over 22 years of experience in the area of international volunteer programme management. While BGC is a younger organization, as a team we have worked together with a highly acclaimed international volunteer organization through its set up in India and its spread across the world – a journey spanning more than two decades. Over the years we have interacted with thousands of international volunteers and hundreds of grass root organizations, worked alongside local experts and facilitated in providing solutions to the problems of many different communities. We understand the importance of pairing the problems of communities, their available resources and, the skills and strengths of our volunteers towards problem solving. Issues challenging communities can range from environmental, educational, skill transfer, economic, habitat related, agricultural etc. With the help of local, partner organization, we first identify the challenges that need attention and, in a culturally sensitive way, agree to the ways in which they can be addressed. Then, we match the skills and interests of our pool of volunteers with these and plan their placements. Throughout their placement, volunteers are assisted by BGC staff and that of the local, partner organization.

Bridging Global Cultures is a non-political and non-religious organization.
